IRISH WAKE IN NEW YORK

ROCKY SULLIVAN’S, the legendary Irish-American bar on Lexington at 29th Street, is closing. However - it will be ushered out in traditional fashion, with an Irish Wake to be held on Saturday, July 28th, starting at 4:00 p.m.

For the past eleven years, Rocky’s was a fixture with both politicians and poets, and was the site of countless benefits, book readings, debates on current events (particularly Irish politics and the war in Iraq,) as well as host to the top comedians and musicians in NYC.

This end of an era will be marked with plenty of stories, drink, and comedy by the inimitable Randy Credico. Radio Free Eireann will air a pre-wake tribute show from 1:30 - 3:00, on WBAI , 99.5 F.M.

There will also be a tribute to Kevin Fitzpatrick, regular patron of Rocky’s, who passed away earlier this year. Donations will be accepted to be given to the Taxi Worker’s Alliance in recognition of his lifetime of service to that organization.

Enjoy the wake!
The corpse is the only that never gets pleasure from it.
Two ladies looking at the corpse

"Mary Tommy is looking great, you can see that holiday did him the world of good"
